Abstract

Psychoanalytical remarks on the end of the world

The author of the article investigates millenaristic and apocalyptic elements in psychoanalytic theory and practice on the example of works by S. Freud, M. Klein and H. Segal. The author underlines the problem of ‘unconsciousness’ and it connections with the anthropological idea of ‘myth’. The author applies the psychoanalytic theories to selected phenomena and texts from popular culture, especially to literature and movies. Those, being repositories of popular images and concepts, provide the data for analysis of projections of collectively shared desires and anxieties.
