Sztuczna inteligencja (SI) przez wielu kojarzona jest z fantastycznonaukową kinematografią, literaturą science-fiction, futurystycznymi wizjami i robotami. W niniejszym eseju, będącym próbą opisu zjawisk i problemów towarzyszących wkraczaniu coraz inteligentniejszych maszyn w życie ludzkie, nakreślona zostaje interpretacja codziennego życia coraz mocniej splecionego z nowoczesnymi technologiami. Zagadnienia te przedstawione są na przykładzie współczesnych sposobów wykorzystywania „myślących” urządzeń (np. botów). Ponadto poruszone zostanie zagadnienie naszych relacji ze wskazanymi wynalazkami i kwestia przyszłego statusu człowieka i człowieczeństwa w tak zmieniającej się rzeczywistości.

Abstract

More than an algorithm? “Smart” machines in everyday life and science fiction films

The 20th century intensive technological and scientific progress resulted in significant changes that affected many aspects of human life. For some people, it was the beginning of a new era of humanity and new order of social life and communication.
An evident, significant revolution took place in technical sciences. Artificial intelligence, a new field of science, arose, which attracted scientists and unleashed enthusiasm, but at the same time, brought fear and apprehension.
This article attempts to describe various aspects of artificial intelligence that enter our reality. Examples from everyday situations show the areas of life, in which AI occurs in different forms – not only in engineering applications, but also in the entertainment industry, communication-based services (bots, computer games), speech, face and handwriting recognition, etc. Another part of the article draws attention to the ideas and views on AI presented in science fiction films.
The article focuses on the role of a human being in the changing reality. Do people try to invent intelligence that exceeds their own? How to approach advanced forms of non-human intelligence? The revolution that is happening in front of us may in the next few years make these unreasonable questions become obvious and fundamental.
